For Adults Guides or docents at the Colonel Davenport House provide an informative program on life in the early 1800's as well as the role the Davenport family played in the development of the Quad Cities. This program is free. This program can also include showing the new DVD “The House that Courage Built: The Story of Colonel George Davenport.” If you would like to have a program at your gathering, please contact Pete Peterson, (563) 324-4265 or pepaco@mchsi.com. Lunch and Learn Held at the Rock Island Arsenal Golf Club, Lunch and Learn is an opportunity to learn about history in a lively, informal setting utilizing the region's best resource speakers. Lunch and Learn programs serve 300 to 400 people annually. The cost is $13.00 for members and $16.00 for non-members. Visit the Calendar page for the next Lunch and Learn details. For Youth Traveling Treasure Trunk To prepare students for a class tour of the Colonel Davenport House, you can borrow a Traveling Treasure Trunk for free filled with books, Robert E. Lee’s map of the Rock Island Rapids, animal furs, games, and household objects of the 1830s and ‘40s. The trunk is filled with creative, exciting items that enliven classes and provide “hands on” experience for kids. CDHF will deliver the trunk to your school free of charge one week before your tour, and you can return it when you visit. Children of all ages are fascinated by the Fur Trade Exhibit.
